This Privacy Policy explains how faisalnadeem.net (“this site,” “I,” or “my”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit this website, read the blog, leave a comment, subscribe to the newsletter, or get in touch through the contact form. I built this site as a personal portfolio and technical blog, and I take a minimal, deliberate approach to data collection: I only collect what’s needed to run the site and respond to visitors.

Information I collect
Comments
When you leave a comment on a blog post, the comment text, your name, email address, and the IP address and browser user agent string used to submit it are collected to help detect spam. An anonymized hash of your email address may be shared with the Gravatar service to check whether you have a Gravatar profile photo; Gravatar’s own privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. If your comment is approved, your name and profile photo (if any) become publicly visible alongside the comment.
Contact form and newsletter
If you submit the contact form, the name, email address, and message you provide are used solely to respond to your inquiry. If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address is stored so I can send occasional updates about new articles and projects; every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
Analytics
This site uses analytics tools, including Microsoft Clarity, to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed and how visitors scroll and click. These tools may use cookies or similar technologies and collect information like your approximate location, device and browser type, and on-site behavior. This data is aggregated and used to improve the site’s content and usability, not to identify you personally.
Media
If you upload images to the site (for example, through a comment or submission form that accepts them), please avoid uploading images that include embedded location data (EXIF GPS), since visitors can download and extract that data from images published on the site.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt in to having your name, email address, and website saved in a cookie so you don’t have to re-enter them next time. These cookies last for one year. If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie checks whether your browser accepts cookies; it contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in (as the site administrator), additional cookies save your login and screen display preferences: login cookies last two days, screen options cookies last a year, and logging out removes them.

Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, code snippets, or social posts. Who I share your data with
Data is not sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Comment data may be checked through an automated spam-detection service. If you request a password reset for an account on this site, your IP address is included in the reset email. Where third-party services are used (such as Gravatar, analytics providers, or the email service used for the newsletter), only the minimum data needed for that service to function is shared, and each provider is bound by its own privacy policy.
How long data is retained
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so that follow-up comments from the same visitor can be recognized and approved automatically rather than held in a moderation queue. Newsletter subscriber emails are retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to resolve the inquiry, and are periodically deleted afterward.
Your rights over your data
If you have left a comment or subscribed to the newsletter, you can request an export of the personal data held about you, or request that it be erased, at any time by using the contact form. This does not include data that must be kept for legitimate administrative, legal, or security purposes. Depending on your location, you may also have additional rights under data protection laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to restrict or object to certain processing.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service, which may process data outside your country of residence. Analytics and email-delivery providers used by this site may likewise process data on servers located in other countries, subject to their own security and privacy safeguards.
